Monday's class
I enjoyed seeing some familiar faces, however I was disappointed at the small number of participates. In the morning we had a nice review on the types of radioactive decay. Looking at the web activities on cosmic rays was very good. I enjoyed this and see some use of this in my classrooms. I was also pleasantly surprised to see we get a digital radiation monitor from Vernier along with the corresponding lab manual. I have always wanted to order some of these and now I have one to experiment with along with the manual. After doing some of these labs, I am sure that I will order some radiation samples and for sure do the distance vs. strength. I like this lab because it reinforces the inverse square law which is so common in science. Building the particle detector looks like it will be a challenge.
